This page is dedicated to useful links and all the fun things to do in Cleveland. If you know of any that aren't on this list, email us and we'll be happy to add it (unless, of course, we deem it to be really stupid, then we won't).
| Cleveland.Com |
Cleveland's Official Web Site. |
| I-X Center |
There's usually some really interesting show at the IX center. The home and garden show is really worth seeing. It costs $6 to park and $8 per person to get in, but it's worth it. |
| GCRTA (Bus and Train Schedule) |
Probably the easiest way to get around down town. It only costs $1.50 to ride the train or bus. It usually costs around $10 to park down town. You do the math. |
| Cleveland Public Library |
Home of the John G. White collection of chess and checker related books and documents. The world's largest such collection. |
| Ohio Library Link |
Search all of the Ohio libraries for a book or journal. |
| The Plain Dealer |
I don't read the Plain Dealer, but they do have some great job ads, and occasionally I need some information, so here's the link. |
| Free Times |
Interesting magazines with lots of cultural events going on in the Cleveland area. It's sort of fun to read the left leaning political bent of this rag. I suppose when the publishers grow up, move out of their parents' basements, and have to fend for themselves they won't be as socially conscious. |
| Scene Magazine |
We like to think of "Scene Magazine" as a poor man's "Free Times". This is another free publication that seems to cater to the arts and croissant crowd. Actually, it does have some interesting items about what you can do around town, such as good plays, art shows, and restraunts. |
| Yours Truly |
We really like this restraunt. Kathryn especially likes the "Monte Cristo" sandwiches. They also have great onion rings and milk shakes. Also, you have to get a big old hunk of Apple Pie with Cinnamon Ice Cream, for dessert. YUM! They have locations all over Cleveland and it's low priced. It can be crowded at times, but that's because it's really nice. By the way, Don proposed to Kathryn at the "Yours Truly" in Shakers Square. |
| Ruth's Chris Steak House |
If you want a really great steak, and don't mind dropping $50 or $60 bucks a head, this is terrific. We go here once a year and feast. The side dishes are huge, so order one for the both of you. Also, if you are going there on a special occasion, like an anniversary, they might just give you a free dessert, but you probably won't even have room for it because there's a lot of it! |
| Handel's Ice Cream |
Listed by USA Today as one of the ten best Ice Cream parlors in the nation. And hey, if you read it in USA Today, then it has to be true, right? It's pretty good ice cream and the beauty of it is that it is within walking distance of our humble abode. Yum. |
| Cabaret DaDa |
A really funny improv group. We've been twice. We'll certainly go again as soon as we can find a baby sitter. |
| "Rock and Roll" Hall of Fame |
Not worth the ridiculous price of admission, but if it cost less (or better yet, free) it might be interesting. I suppose it might be worth going there just to say you did. |
| Steamship William G. Mather Museum |
Join the museum so that you can get the best seats in the city for seeing fire works. |
| The Cleveland Museum of Art |
Very good art museum. Usually they have some special exhibit which might cost money, otherwise it's FREE! They also have a movie theater there and they show very interesting movies. |
| Playhouse Square |
Here's your chance to see good Broadway shows. Unfortunately, the seating doesn't offer much leg room so keep that in mind. |
| Cinematheque |
A wonderful place to see classic, artistic, and unusual films of all varieties that you won't see in any typical movie theater. Sometimes a brief lecture is given before the film. You can see a movie for $6 or two movies for $10 in the same nite. |
| Cleveland Cinemas |
Cedar Lee, Shaker Square, and Tower City. Nice place to see unusual movies that you won't find any place else. |
| Case Western Reserve University |
Located outside of downtown Cleveland, near Shaker Square. Highly regarded for its engineering, business, law, and medical programs. |
| Cleveland State University |
Cleveland State University is located near the heart of down town Cleveland. Information about the CSU sports programs can be found at Cleveland State University Sports . |
| University of Akron |
Kathryn completed her Bachelor's degree in Art and is finishing up her Masters degree in Art Administration. She likes the program and believes that she has learned a great deal, and Akron has built on what she had learned at "Tri C". Don attended Akron for both business and law classes and found both colleges to be pretty good. Akron is supposed to have a good engineering program, particularly in the field of polymers. |
| Kent State University |
Good university with some unique degrees. Rumor has it, however, that their Art school is run by a bunch of first class jerks. |
| Cleveland Institute of Art |
Located very near Case Western Reserve University. College dedicated to fine art. Students graduate with a Bachelor in Fine Arts degree. |
| Cleveland Institute of Music |
Located very near Case Western Reserve University. College dedicated to music. |
| Cuyahoga Community College |
Kathryn attended "Tri C" and received her Associate's Degree in Photography. Her experience was that it provided an outstanding program, and gave her a better "hands on" knowledge of photography and dark room technique than if she had gone directly into a four year program. |
